User Management and Permissions

In WHM (Web Host Manager) cPanel, user management and permissions are crucial aspects for managing hosting accounts efficiently. Here's an overview of how you can manage users and their permissions:

  1. Creating Users:

    • As a root user in WHM, you can create new cPanel accounts for your clients or users.
    • Navigate to WHM's "Account Functions" section and select "Create a New Account."
    • Fill in the required information such as domain name, username, password, etc.
    • You can also assign specific packages (sets of predefined resources and features) to these new accounts.
  2. Managing Users:

    • WHM allows you to manage existing cPanel accounts. You can modify account settings, change passwords, suspend or unsuspend accounts, etc.
    • Navigate to "List Accounts" in WHM to view a list of all accounts on the server and perform various actions on them.
  3. Permissions:

    • cPanel offers various permission levels for users, allowing you to control what each user can access and modify.
    • The root user has full access to all features and settings in WHM.
    • Reseller accounts can create and manage their own cPanel accounts within predefined limits set by the root user.
    • Regular cPanel users have access to their own hosting account, where they can manage files, databases, emails, etc.
  4. Access Levels:

    • There are different access levels within WHM and cPanel, such as root access, reseller access, and user access.
    • Root access provides full control over the server and all accounts.
    • Reseller access allows management of multiple cPanel accounts but with limitations set by the root user.
    • User access is limited to the functionalities of their own cPanel account.
  5. Feature Manager:

    • WHM's Feature Manager allows you to customize which features are available to cPanel users.
    • You can enable or disable specific features like email, databases, FTP, etc., for individual cPanel accounts or globally for all accounts.
  6. Additional Settings:

    • WHM also offers various additional settings related to user management, such as account suspension settings, password strength configuration, and security settings.

By effectively managing users and their permissions in WHM cPanel, you can ensure smooth operation of hosting accounts while maintaining security and resource allocation.
